"‘Io and ‘Ōhi’a Lehua

‘Io (Buteo solitarius) are found on Hawai’i Island, and have multiple color “morphs”. ‘Io are important both culturally and ecologically, and are found nowhere else on earth.

‘Ōhi’a lehua (Metrosideros polymorpha) are Hawaii’s most abundant native tree. They are vital to watersheds and provide a home for myriad native species. Their flowers come in shades of red, orange, yellow, and salmon.
