This critically endangered snail (Laminella sanguinea) is endemic to the Wai'anae mountains on O'ahu. Rarely seen, they creep along the leaf litter or venture in 'ie'ie (Freycinetia arborea), an indigenous relative of hala. Belonging to the only extant (still living) endemic family of animals left in Hawai'i (Amastridae), these beautiful snails are a reminder of Hawaii's brilliant biodiversity.
